Her nomination for an Oscar first-time because of her character as the wife of Stephen Hawking on The Theory of Everything. Jones was highly praised by both critics and audiences because she played the character of Hawking's wife for the Stephen Hawking biopic. Inferno was the second film she starred in, which starred Tom Hanks. Inferno was a thriller starring Tom Hanks. British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles presented Jones the British Artist of the Year in 2016 due to her extraordinary talent and contribution to cinema.
